Since I began planning this series I always thought I would have enough fodder for two books outlining the first adventure. (Second adventure in the third book and third adventure in the fourth book, but I digress.)
The third draft of the first work has just come in at 77, 498 words. I thought that after reviewing it a third time that more ideas would come to me for the second part. Alas, that is just what it will be, a second part. I'm 20,000 words in and have already said half of what I need to say. If I stretch it out anymore half of the second book will be pure bullshit. Something I'm not in the mood to write nor have anyone read.
In the spirit of traditional epic fantasy, I am combining what I first considered to be two books and push the boundaries of the 100,000-word count that most standard publishers abide by. I hope once they see the manuscript as a whole they will realize that it needs to be the length it is, regardless of my debut authorship or not.
With all that being said, the new debut title of the all-encompassing book will be Elemental Alliance, with Imbalance being the first section and Refugees being the second.
