2017 Quest for a Publisher Update

Now that one quarter of the year is firmly under our belt and I've been searching for a new publisher for two of those three months, I thought I'd write an update as to the progress of the books. (If you'll recall I had signed with a publisher last October, but they closed shop in January and returned all literary rights to me.)

Three publishers have turned the series down and one publisher made me feel uneasy, so I walked away from them before they had a chance to ask me to commit. I can't quite put my finger on why, but there was something in their approach that made me uncertain to trust them with the work I've been doing the past few years.

Some days when I get wrapped up in teaching, grading, prepping, and all the little family things that come along; I do seriously wonder what the hell I'm doing, that maybe my work isn't worth what I thought it was. But then I reread the comments that others have made that encourage me to publish my work, that it should be out there being read, and it gives me the confidence to write down the next few thousand words in the sequel, or search out more publishers who might like an Epic Science Fantasy series in their lineup.

Either way, I'm not quitting on this dream. I'm still here, just working a bit more slowly than I'd like to be, but hey, I have to teach, and I have to be mom, and I have to play with the dog, and... I definitely have to write.
