Navigating the Publishing World

I can honestly tell you that since I began writing ELEMENTAL ALLIANCE a year and a half ago that I've been exploring all of my publishing options since that time. While I'm not an expert in the field of publishing at all, I do consider myself somewhat well informed after the amount of research I've put into it.

Which is why I have sent the manuscript for ELEMENTAL ALLIANCE directly to two of the biggest names in Fantasy publishing. When I realized I would have to combine IMBALANCE and REFUGEES into one large manuscript thereby creating ALLIANCE, it became the 103,314 word high fantasy story it needed to become. From what I understand, its new length now pulls it out of the mainstream novel publishing business, which also makes it less attractive to literary agents who try their best to sell prospective manuscripts that average between 70,000 and 90,000 words in length.

So it seems that I have limited myself, but I've also presented the story in the format it needs to be. We'll see what the two big publishers have to say in six to twelve months, and if they don't like it, I have a few small publishers in mind who I think will take my work on. Until then, I'll continue to write the sequel, ELEMENTAL BLOODLINES, which I must say is coming along quite well. Stay close, dear friends and readers, I have a feeling big things will be happening soon.
